Vans …

So here we go…my first Shoereika blog post!

My name is Hayley and I absolutely LOVE shoes and I have quite a thing for handbags too!

So first a few notes about me …

  1. I own over 80 pairs of shoes, mostly of which are heels. My nanna bought me my first pair of pink, beaded, strappy stilettos at a ridiculously young age and from then I was hooked!
  2. As much as I love stilettos and wedges my all time favourite shoes are Vans trainers, its all about comfort at the end of the day.
  3. My dream is to own designer shoes and not just high street shoes, especially a pair of Jimmy Choo’s!!
  4. My favourite high street handbag designer is Fiorelli, I have quite a few in my collection but always end up going back to my original blue and red perfect size, perfect amount of compartments Fiorelli that my dad bought for me a few years ago… this started my love affair for handbags!
  5. Along with my unhealthy shoe and bag addiction I do have a healthy relationship with my partner Jack who has to put up with the lack of storage around our house due to shoes and bags being shoved everywhere!!!

So back to the top … the reason for my shoe fetish, my nanna. My nanna was my world, she gave me everything – including things inappropriate for my age, if Hayley wanted something then nanna  would buy it. As a child I was spoilt and that was her doing! We went into that shoe shop looking for a fancy pair of shoes for me and there was those bright pink strappy stilettos. At the time they were so high, I could barely walk. Looking back now I think they were probably only 2 inches but they were stunning. My mum was less that encouraging of the shoes but I was adamant! Went we got home my dad and my grandad were taken aback, their little girl in these slightly tacky shoes that were much too mature for me. As far as shoes go, since then it has been a rare occasion when someone has denied me shoes…once I set my sights on a pair of shoes I will not rest until they are mine … all mine!

Moving on to my second point …VANS …off the wall…

Vans Home …

Vans are beautiful in every way … they are nice to look at … available in hundreds of colours … reasonably priced and … comfortable! Back when I was in college the trend of Vans began, I begged and wasn’t argued with… before I knew it I had brand new blue vans peeping out from under my jeans – I wanted to show them to the world. I quickly moved on to grey vans then pink and in the past 6 or 7 years I have owned many pairs of Vans in blue, grey, pink, more grey, more blue, black, more blue and more grey…  I have never been overly adventurous with the colour because I wear them with jeans everyday and blue and grey go with everything and black is perfect for work. As many will agree with my I am not very good of taking care of my things and I am first to throw something out and get a new one or upgrade … until it comes to my …Vans. Vans are my babies, I hate getting them dirty and I hate when the time comes to give them up because they are falling apart, until I realise I can have a new pair!

Jimmy Choo………

Jimmy Choo Home

I have always been obsessed with Jimmy Choo shoes, this was reinforced when my aunty took me to Bicester Village and I was encapsulated by all those stilettos, then for my 18th birthday my parents got me a Jimmy Choo cake … what I would do for a pair of Jimmy Choo’s! Don’t get me wrong I love all shoes no matter how expensive or how cheap, I have paid as little as a few pounds on a pair of shoes in Primarni (Primark)and they have been some of my best. For me I love a quality pair of shoes but I am also a sucker for a pretty pair of shoes. I will always be a high street shopper, I could have all the money in the world but high streets will always be my home. Never the less … there is no harm in treating yourself to the odd designer purchase!

Fiorelli and my handbag fascination …

Fiorelli Home

Handbags, Handbags, Handbags… so beautiful, so different and so useful. My partner has a very two faced view of my handbags, firstly and 80% of him hates them for many reasons – they are … expensive … full of unnecessary items … dangerous to put your hand into and he hates when he has to hold it for me! On the other hand to him it is great because it often means he doesn’t have to pay for a 5p carrier bag in the shops because he can shove items into my handbag and therefore I have to carry the shopping. My love affair for Fiorelli started in a Fiorelli shop in Portsmouth … I saw the shop first full of colourful handbags of all shapes and sizes. I called to mum and dad to follow me and as I walked in the store I clapped eyes on it … my beautiful navy handbag with red edging, 3 main compartments and several zip pockets … my ultimate baby. This handbag and been through everything with me, every time I buy a new bag I feel like I am betraying the blue Fiorelli but ultimately I always revert back eventually… I have to admit though that it is at the point of no return, I will always have my trusty original but it is too tatty to use as a respected handbag now 🙁

So towards the end of last year my partner Jack and I bought our first house together, we were already renting together but some of my stuff had never been unpacked and I also still had stuff at my parents. When we moved in in January I finally had all my stuff and storage to allow me to unpack – I was thrilled … Jack was less so! We have quite a good size house for our ages but it is already stuffed with bags and shoes, poor old Jack has about 5 pairs of shoes to his name and that includes his wellies! and he has a work bag … a little different to me! I am sure that many women and their partners have the same problem .. where my parents are concerned my dad has more shoes than my mum but I am sure that is a rare scenario…

So there we go … my first blog to give a snapshot about me and my passions in life … <3
